What's the "Shields.io for websites" idea

GitHub README files everywhere display Shields.io badges — those tiny "build: passing", "coverage: 87%", "downloads: 12k" labels. They became universal because they're:

  1. Free, no account needed
  2. Auto-updating
  3. Stylistically consistent
  4. Trivial to embed (one line)

Websites — outside the GitHub README context — have never had an equivalent. Until 2026.

The 8 free SEO metric badges you can embed today

We launched a universal embeddable SEO badge system. One widget engine, eight metrics, ten themes, four sizes:

  1. FeedPulse Rank — global website rank (Alexa replacement)
  2. Domain Authority — Moz DA score 0-100
  3. Domain Rating — Ahrefs-equivalent DR score 0-100

That's it. The badge auto-renders with your real Trust Score (DA + DR + age + HTTPS + Lighthouse signals combined), live data.

Why this category was missing for so long

The original Alexa rank badge dominated this category from 1998-2022. After Alexa shut down, nothing replaced it — partly because the underlying ranking dataset disappeared, partly because no one wanted to absorb the API cost of running a free public service. FeedPulse absorbs the cost (Moz Free Links API, OpenPageRank, PageSpeed Insights, WHOIS RDAP) because the badges include a small "via FeedPulse" attribution, and that's our entire growth model.
